Default Nemoshell: Another Wayland Window Manager

Phoronix: Nemoshell: Another Wayland Window Manager

In the past few days several videos have surfaced for "Nemoshell", a reported window manager for Wayland but details on the software project are scarce...

Hah, my first thought when I saw the video thumbnails was "That looks similar to the Geoscape in XCOM: UFO Defense..."

Nemo is the (non-SailfishOS) Mer mobile handset UX. I haven't checked, but I very strongly suspect this is the Wayland port.

Sailfish uses Lipstick as Wayland compositor. I'm pretty sure this is completely unrelated.

Looks experimental or like a demo or something.

I would like to see mature and proven X11 window managers gets ported over to Wayland, many of these have had over a decade of development.

still doesn't look anything like actual nemo mobile UI. I'm also quite sure there is no relation whatsoever between the two.

    Edit: From Mer wiki:
Nemo uses Mer as core and the UX was originally based on MeeGo Handset UX, but is now using lipstick.

    Other than the name!

You're quite right. This is then something else, at least it's not a Nemo Handset UX...
