Intel Linux GPU Driver Patches For 4K HDMI Support
Phoronix: Intel Linux GPU Driver Patches For 4K HDMI Support
A new set of Linux GPU driver patches have emerged for allowing HDMI 4K support...
Note that HDMI 1.4a/b only supports 4K resolution at 24/25/30 frames per second. This is fine for watching movies, but not for gaming. 4K resolution at 60 frames per second requires the yet to be released HDMI 2.0. Or you could just forget about these patches and use a DisplayPort 1.2 connection. 4K decoding has been supported in Intel's VA-API driver since version 1.0.18.
the "drm/i915: fix hdmi portclock limits" patch seems to be in the 3.11-rc3 kernel.
