The Linux 3.13 kernel that is just entering mainline development stages already has Radeon DPM and HDMI audio by default. However, now there's another Radeon DRM-Next pull and it provides support for the brand new AMD R9 290 "Hawaii" GPUs!..
Great to hear ! As the kernel is the lowest piece in the stack, it's good to see this going in for 3.13, as the other projects can now utilize it to build upon.
I'll get one of those R9 290's as soon as there are non-standard cooler designs available.
Maybe because there are many editions? Cards from MSI, Gigabyte, Asus, Saphirre, ect.
Yeah, manufacturers these days do their own thang: add "complex" cooling so that they can jack up the mem. frequency, etc. There's also the "same model different amount of memory" type of cards. Like gtx 760 coming in a 2Gb and 4Gb VRam models.
