Hi,
I'm running openSUSE 10.3 on a hp compaq nw8440 laptop that has the X1600 GPU I think, it has the ATI FireGL sticker on it anyway.
Kernel 2.6.22.17-0.1-bigsmp
Using the Catalyst 8.3 driver.
I'm having the following problems:
1) If I enable Xgl I get a box around my mouse pointer that follows the mouse around making it hard to select things and leaving a trail behind sometimes.
2) If I enable Xgl and Compiz or Compiz Fusion starting a program by clicking on a launcher button takes the CPU to 100% for maybe 5-10 seconds before the programs starts to launch. It does not happen without XGL.
3) I have tried to enable AIGLX instead but it does not work. The log show me the following:
