Thread: Should I update?

  1. #1

    Default Should I update?

I have an X1650 (rv535) I currently have 3d support, which I am very happy about... Thank You to everyone working on these drivers.

I am able to run compiz-fusion with little to no problems.

I guess my biggest concern would be movie playback. I get horizontal lines during playback. Not too obvious, but still an annoyance. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

The problem occurs in any movie player I usually use ogle(DVD) and totem(avi, etc.), using the most common codecs and during DVD playback as well.

Would it be worthwhile to update to the 6.9 driver?
If so how would I do this? I am running Ubuntu Hardy.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank You

    Here is my xorg.conf: (pertinent)

You don't mention what versions you have installed, but it seems from your Xorg.0.log that you are using the xorg-edgers packages. In this case, updating should be safe. As always, run the live CD test first to be sure it's not broken on your hardware.

The packages are up to date as of last night, but I don't know if your video issues have been fixed.
