Phoronix: OpenBSD Made Progress On Their Systemd-Compatible Replacement

This summer a student developer began work on DBus daemons that accept systemd calls and emulated their behavior with their own native calls, in order to make drop-in replacements for BSD platforms where systemd is not supported and the upstream systemd developers have no plans of supporting...

They should fork the real thing, adapt it to OpenBSD and maintain compatibility with the Linux systemd interfaces which are used by Gnome & Co.

              Why all these weird reactions?
Did OpenBSD say in the past it won't ever adopt systemD or what?

                I'm confused

Is this an OpenBSD project, or a SystemD one? The article text and title give me different impressions.

Either way, this is exactly what all the SystemD guys have been telling people to do for a long time. Don't like gnome's dependency on logind? Replace it with your own version of a dbus daemon that provides the same capabilities.

But I'm afraid it's already happened. Read the article and check the repo at https://uglyman.kremlin.cc/gitweb/gi...=systembsd.git
