GeForce 7800 GS
Hi!
I'm wondering if anyone has tried the GeForce 7800 GS on Linux and see how that works out? I'm contemplating on doing a minor upgrade and need some opinions. Regards. P.S. I've also got another follow up query. How hard is it to change graphics cards on Linux. Right now, off the bat, I'm thinking to reconfigure xorg.conf to boot something like vesa then switch cards go to init 3 and install new drivers. Do I have that right? I had a GeForce 7800GS running before on Linux, but not in a few months. It works out pretty well and has been supported by the NVIDIA binary driver for some time.
Switching graphics cards under Linux is a piece of cake. If you weren't switching brands you wouldn't need to reinstall the drivers or anything. All you should need to do is pop in the card, X will fail to start, but run the NVIDIA installer and then run nvidia-xconfig, reboot, and that should be it.

That sounds very good, Michael... much easier than I thought.
It's going to be in the list then. I just hope it's something I can afford.
