Phoronix: Wine Developers Contemplate A Kernel-Like Staging Tree

Wine developers are contemplating a staging-like tree where new changes could be introduced faster before being mainlined inside Wine, but this idea doesn't catch the fancy of all Wine developers...

Makes sense cause a lot of people patch Wine.

It should definitely be put in place. I've seen many windows apps working only with specifically-patched wine, making use of more than one specific app a nightmare (even breaking those which work flawlessly with standard, stable wine). Having a staging tree could encourage patches to be polished and finally included in the codebase.

Yea, that would make things much easier. Having access to pulse, command stream etc. changes before they're 100% polished would be useful.
