Post ATI FireGL 5200 Linux Support & Performance

Hello,

I would like to buy a new notebook, a ThinkPad Z61P. This commes with ATI FireGL 5200 and a huge display resultion (1920x1200). What can you say/assume about the performance for AIXGL? (I plan to use Ubuntu 7.04). What about gaming performance? Is it possible to play in native resultion? Or at least on Microsoft Windows ( ) (with possible better driver performance?)

Any ideas or experience?

Thanks for any comments...

AIGLX is not currently supported by the ATI fglrx drivers.

Should be able to play at native resolution but the performance isn't the best right now.

So, no 3D Linux Desktop is possible atm? I've got a ATI X600, and XGL worked in Dapper...

No AIGLX with fglrx. If you use XGL it will work, but NOT AIGLX.
