    One week into the merge window for the Linux 3.19 kernel, the DRM subsystem pull request was sent in this morning by Red Hat's David Airlie. There's a lot of interesting kernel graphics driver changes abound for Linux 3.19!..

    I hope other graphics device drivers strip out DRI1 too so we can have less code, leaner code, and easier to maintain and easier to grasp and attract new maintainers and developers.

    Now that DRI3 is here, when can DRI2 be stripped out?

      You're answering your own questions: DRI2 can't be stripped out before DRI1. There are still drivers requiring DRI1.
