Phoronix: Compare Your Linux System To The i7-5600U Broadwell X1 Carbon ThinkPad

The third-generation Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon continues running well under Linux with its new Intel Core i7 5600U "Broadwell" processor sporting HD Graphics 5500. I'm enjoying this new ultrabook a lot and have been pushing it very hard for days with various Linux benchmarks...

Does this automatically determine DRI_PRIME use?

I'm about to run this benchmark on my laptop, which has working DRI_PRIME, will it use the intel GPU or switch to Radeon one?

The PTS hardware information parsing might get a bit confused over DRI_PRIME=1 (haven't checked it lately to confirm) but PTS doesn't override any DRI_PRIME env var so the actual test programs should respect it as it's using all of your normal system libraries.

Wow, that has closer to the legendary Thinkpad keyboard. I might consider that as my next laptop!

Does the keyboard feel like the original Thinkpad keyboard?

T and W series now sport an awkwardly-placed touchpad with a numeric pad (that almost no one needs or uses!). Lenovo has really ruined Thinkpad with the 540 series.

Michael, can you provide what will display:
          Code:
          vainfo
command? I am curious which codecs supports now this laptop.

It will be covered in another article later today.

                  Results from Dell M6800

                  Michael,

                  Here's my results:

OpenBenchmarking.org, Phoronix Test Suite, Linux benchmarking, automated benchmarking, benchmarking results, benchmarking repository, open source benchmarking, benchmarking test profiles

The Disk on this isn't very good, this is a Hybrid-SSD disk and it's pretty poor on I/O, but once 1TB SSDs come out and are cheaper, I'll be swapping disk

                    Re: Results from Dell M6800

That said, I SMOKED that Lenovo X1 laptop if you count the Radeon GPU instead of the Intel Haswell GPU
