Phoronix: Imagination Already Has A Vulkan Driver In The Works For PowerVR GPUs

While hearing "PowerVR" tend to make Linux users cringe over memories of past Linux driver issues with Imagination's binary blobs, Imagination is among the vendors now experimenting with the new Vulkan graphics API and SPIR-V IR. Imagination too has already put out one of the first demos using this new graphics API...

    bring on the excuses

It's been quite some time since IMG lets us know about the various excuses they have for not making any documentation public or any driver code.... that's quite sad.

Whose source do you need? An API has no source, implementations do. Or do you need the source of some alpha-stage proprietary driver?

Considering what they usually release is alpha-quality proprietary drivers. Yes that would nice, maybe someone competent could fix it for them.

Or maybe someone like Microsoft could just steal it and use it for D3D, and Vulkan would be dead on arrival...

This is like claiming if your friend shows a picture of his car to his mother, she will hi-jack it (car).
His mother has keys to it anyway.
She has access to the picture.
And you don't - to both things.

I need source of PowerVR driver. Alpha, stable, doesnt matter. All sources. Like Intel does.

I stopped reading the article when I reached ImgTec / PowerVR in the headline. It was about the shortest read I had.

Sorry, what good is this? We all know how Imagination Technology treats Linux and its users. So it makes no sense to even make a news item about them showing of something that they claim to be a Vulkan driver.
Stop TCPA, stupid software patents and corrupt politicians!
