Pretty interesting...

You can expect increased mobility and control, improved performance with ambient lighting options, and weapon alterations that advance playability and challenge competitive players.

We?ve noticed several LAN and competitive events considering what games to use for their future events, and we would encourage players and organizers to give 1.3 a try ? we think you?ll like it. We feel these competition friendly changes, coupled with an all-new gametype, a new weapon, and several professionally made maps will extend the life of QUAKE 4 for all players. We?re currently in a small, private beta test of the point release and hope to have it out publicly sometime before QuakeCon.

It's out! Go grab it off zerowing.idsoftware.com or one of the other mirrors.

zerowing seems pretty bogged down atm... i guess thats a good sign (shows that there's at least enough quake4 playing linux'ers to use up most of that server's bandwidth

So how is everyone enjoying the Quake 4 v1.3 patch?

It's running here but I haven't tried the actual gameplay changes, other than benchmarking.

Its pretty fun, but that napalm launcher is a bit overpowered, its like a grenade launcher (thats on fire) that doesn't bounce.

A new update is out to fix the 1.2 to 1.3 installer, and SMP.

Default Smp

Is there any chance that there will be a Phoronix article testing the SMP Support and FPS gain in Quake 4? There is supposed to be better SMP support with this latest update to Quake 4.
