My hope is that there will be soon work by XFCE or LXQT team to implement Wayland within these fantastic DEs.

XFCE should be able to use Wayland. but it depends when they release 4.14 LXQT should use Wayland now?

xfce still need wayland compositor to be able to run natively, all they have now is metacity fork using XRender or somethng.
LXQT will use wayland when kwin completes its support
