While NVIDIA's NVISION 3D conference is taking place this week, we have yet to hear anything in regards to Linux announcements. However, NVIDIA has updated its open-source driver...

The usual suckage AMD's proprietary driver may suck, but at least the open source driver is usable.

Waste of time imho to continue down this drive. Either open-source the good proprietary one to keep fanatics happy or not waste time with this, since everyone agrees that this one sucks.

nv should be dropped from X and replaced by nouveau. It's not quite usable yet, of course, but at least it would encourage putting more efforts into it, while nv is clearly going nowhere.

nv is open-source, you say? I bet you also think that the Bourne shell is written in C.
