Phoronix: X Server 1.6 Lives On With Another Release

X.Org 7.5 that will bear X Server 1.7 has already been delayed multiple times. The latest release schedule promised it a week ago, but there hasn't even been a single pre-release or development snapshot to date...

Actually according to http://www.x.org/wiki/Releases/7.4 this seems to be the first release featuring X server 1.6.
http://www.x.org/wiki/Releases/7.5 on the other paw says that the original plan was to ship 1.6 with 7.5 if 1.7 isn't ready by then so they're not even diverting from their own plans here. What's the problem?

Okay now everybody compalains about the slow development of xorg-x11 as a whole. But then one should try to find the reasons. And maybe the (commercial) distributers - that all make use of xorg - should put some developers aside to get the next xorg finally done.
Stop TCPA, stupid software patents and corrupt politicians!

The slow development isn't the problem.

        The lack of communication is.

I guess the distro planners will eventually learn that the release schedules are meaningless.
