Default OLPC Thoughts

Some more information is now out on the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) program (http://www.phoronix.com/?page=news_item&px=MjA1MQ). Since no one has yet to discuss it on the forums, what is everyone's thoughts on the program?

Among the common issues...

Should countries first worry about housing and food before buying millions of these laptops?

Should US citizens be able to buy these laptops at a slightly higher price, and the profits then used to help off-set the costs for others?

The big debate that they should by food, medicine etc. is really quite ridiculous. The laptop is not for 3rd world countries with starving children. It's for nations that are developing with stable food supplies.

I think with the laptop been able to contain many books it will be worth governments investing in it, and this is not even mentioning all the other advantages too.
