Default CPU Benchmark: GNU Chess?

Would GNU Chess be good at stress testing a CPU. Either in how long it takes or how many moves in a CPU vs CPU game. Or is there something I don't know about in that the speed of a game is directly proportional to CPU speed?

I think it's not a good idea. The time benchmark and the number of moves are wholely dependent on the game tree. It's not a good measurement for repeatability either.

I would agree with niniendo on the matter of GNU Chess not being well.
