Default Name The Next ATI Driver Contest (2007)

From the other threads in the ATI/AMD Linux Forum, some of the unofficial names for the past driver releases has been:

8.38.6: The Least To Report On Driver In Two Years
8.38.6: Still no R600 or AIGLX Support
8.37.6: The no R600 or AIGLX Support Version
8.36.5: The Still no fglrx AIGLX Support Edition

Anyone want to guess what the next driver (fglrx v8.39) version will be called? The Driver That Still Lacks AIGLX and R600 support? 8.39: The Birth of AIGLX Support?

This thread may prove to be more interesting than yesterday's driver release for Fedora 7 users

8.39 "8.35 does it better edition"
8.40 "waiting for 8.41 edition"
8.41 "move along people, nothing to see here edition"
8.42 "maybe next year edition"
8.43 "AIGLX support....NOT! edition"
8.44 "the christmas present you won't like edition"

the unlikely relase that will actually incorporate all the stuff we can only dream of - stability and performance - "too little, too late edition"

seriously i'm totally dissapointed with ati's progress on linux. i really hope something good happens in some other development branch while those maintenance releases keep going out.

that's actually my last hope for ever seeing a functional driver from ati.

8.45 - "ati linux team - the place of many deaths edition" :]

I am getting a new laptop.

I tried one of those Dell Inspiron 640m, not bad, AIGLX + Compiz works fine, though not as good as my Desktop PC (using an old NVIDIA GeForce4 MX4000) at home.

I should be getting a laptop that uses Intel GPU.
