Default Microsoft Zune

Yes, I used the M word, I apologize. I am curious about this player though, for the sole purpose of not buying an iPod. The Zune offers large storage, which I'd like for plane rides and such.

I have heard that there is currently no possible way to have a Zune interoperate with Linux though, is this the case? Does anyone have suggestions of good, similar players that work with Linux no problem? I mainly want something that I can mount like a hard drive and copy files over to... I hate dealing with middleman software.

Thanks!
