CD-Rom will not stop spinning...

Hey guys,

I tried to mount a scratched disc, so it wouldn't end up mounting at all. Instead, it continually spins but nothing happened. I took a paperclip and removed the CD and killed the mount process, but it's still spinning, with no disc in there.

Is there a way to stop it from spinning without turning the computer off? I have a lot of stuff going on and didn't want to reboot.

Edit: Solved... the problem was the IDE cable. It just died on me in between testing a bunch of discs. New cable fixed the problem!
