Default Choose Pixel Format Failed

I've installed the proprietary fglrx drivers for my ati radeon 9550. But whenever I try to run counterstrike under steam using wine, i get an error that says choose pixel format failed, and then it switches to software mode. I've tried a linux native game ppracer, and my fps is 1-2. I'm running fedora 6. any help would be greatly appreciated.
