Not sure I would call this a "great" feature as much as I love LLVM/Clang.

Um, there were critical security issues found in the code about to be released, so it was probably worth the extra release candidate.

      Fixed in 9.2-RC3:
      • Fix for SA-13:11 / CVE-2013-5666

      Fixed in 9.2-RC4:
      • Fix for SA-13:12 / CVE-2013-5691
      • Fix for SA-13:13 / CVE-2013-5710

This just shows how pathetic BSD project management is (as what 0xBADCODE said).

Fedora at least has a good excuse for being late. They are always introducing new and still unfamiliar features into their distro. FreeBSD is not, FreeBSD are always in introducing old and sometimes already out of date features. These features should be well documented but FreeBSD manages to screw it up and be delay.

OpenBSD is also a joke, they manage to put their releases on time by rejecting features created after 1990.
FreeBSD aims for stability. As such, fixed release dates are targets which may be slightly inaccurate (in this case, by only 2 weeks-- not a very significant timescale at all). It most certainly does not show how 'pathetic' the FreeBSD project management is, and 0xBADCODE appears to be somewhat lacking in any sensible points free of zealotry (as are you).
