NVidia GeForce 6100

I have a new ASUS MB model NC-AS-M2N-MX which is giving me isues when installing Centos 4.4 64bit
I initially had problems with finding the SATA drives but I resolved that issue by specifying the NVIDIA SATA driver during the initial install.
The install went fine after that, but upon the restart after the install it craps out and locks up when trying to load the video I assume. The display goes crazy ... no mouse, total lockup.

I't seems that the initial install goes fine using the generic VESA driver but I even tried single user mode with no X and still no go so maybe it is some other confict but I don't know what it is.

Maybe someone here has run into a similar situation.

Would appreciate any help that someone could offer in getting this MB working.

Can you post your xorg.conf? Have you tried installing the NVIDIA drivers? Did you try any other distributions or LiveCDs?

I cannot get to a system prompt to install the driver or to access anything else for that matter. It does the same thing with Ubuntu.

What if you enter 3 as an argument from GRUB so it will go to run level 3?

Yes, I tried that as well (init 3) from the kernel line but still no go and that's what has me confused and thinking it may be more than one thing.

I have tried a fresh install 3 times already with the same results.

Even with the live CD I tried specifying (nox nonet etc) because I thought it may be the NIC driver and it still hung-up in the same place when booting.

Have you tried the Fedora LiveCD or anything?
