One thing I always ask when I hear about these programs that do what other open sourced programs already do is:

What makes you different and worth using?

Very nice, clean UI that I will gladly install if it's in Debian Sid/Experimental, right along-side GNOME 3.12.

Nice looking, but apps that use Gstreamer as a back-end are endless. I'm waiting for a player that uses MPV as it's back-end (like how SMPlayer is a front-end to MPlayer).
MPV devs have stated they'd be willing to work on a new (sane) slave-master type thing, given input from devs who want to write a front-end.

Until then, I'll just use MPV by itself, though I don't like manually configuring it...

gstreamer supports using ffmpeg/libav, so it doesn't really seem worth doing multi-processing wrangling when you can just use a high-level library. I use mpv directly, but if I wanted a player with more GUI features then I wouldn't bother looking at mplayer/mpv frontends as I've never had a great experience with one. SMPlayer is certainly nice, but there are some rough edges caused by usage of the underlying MPlayer.

Every single item in that feature list is available in mpv or vlc as well. Why exactly should I pick this?

I like mpv because it has very fast seek times. I've never seen a gstreamer based player that can match those.

Different UI that may look nicer, even though it's a personal preference. Different underlying technology that may be lighter or more stable.

Competition is good, but ultimately, cooperation is better, but it's not always possible due to different design goals.

What I want is a media player that looks like raw MPV/MPlayer, but uses GST.

Oops, my bad, that is exactly what snappy is. Hell yeah!
Though the OSD icons are screwed up when I built it... but it works!

That's... the worst parts from each. The slowness of gstreamer with the hard-to-learn interface of mplayer.
