Phoronix: Nouveau Companion 39

In the 39th edition of the Nouveau Companion, this open-source NVIDIA driver development crew talks about their latest driver achievements over the past few weeks. Among the progress made includes further enhancing the NV50 support, a Nouveau XvMC implementation for Gallium3D (initially through a software-based implementation), and MMioTrace being postponed to the Linux 2.6.27 kernel.

Some G80 updates at last Funny to think that once they do kernel modesetting (having tried it with an Intel X3100, I can testify it is the best thing since sliced bread), that elusive code to restore text mode will be useless.

Currently in Fedora 8: xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-2.1.6-1.fc8

Currently in Fedora 9: xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-0.0.10-2.20080408git0991281.fc9.x86_64

Looks like Fedora is going the wrong way!
