AMDGPU Golden Setting Updates For Tonga / Iceland / Polaris / Carrizo / Stoney

There's golden register setting updates available for newer GCN hardware on the AMDGPU kernel driver, but it's not immediately clear if these changes will mean any performance or stability improvements for owners of Tonga, Iceland, Polaris, Carrizo, and Stoney hardware.

AMD's Huang Rui sent out the updated golden settings today, a.k.a. the optimal register states determined by AMD engineers for the hardware.

The patch series message simply says, "This patch set are all changes of golden setting, mgcg_cgcg setting, tiling mode array and rev id of VI series of cards."

These patches are presumably material for Linux 4.9 given the DRM Linux 4.8 pull request has already been sent in, unless they classify this as material for a bug-fix pull. Hopefully Bridgman & co will be able to comment in the forums if these patches should yield any direct user benefits for AMDGPU users with relevant hardware.
