Ahead of next week's Radeon RX 7900 series hitting retail availability, AMD today issued a new AMDVLK driver update as their official open-source Vulkan Linux driver.

The AMDVLK 2022.Q4.3 release doesn't note any Radeon RX 7000 "RDNA3" support officially yet but does have a few enhancements with this routine code drop. Most notable with AMDVLK 2022.Q4.3 is performance tuning that helps out Wolfenstein Young Blood, Total War: Three Kingdoms, and other not specified game titles. AMDVLK continues seeing various performance optimizations both for Linux games as well as Windows games running on Linux by way of Valve's Steam Play that are then accelerated by Vulkan thanks to DXVK and VKD3D-Proton.

It will be very interesting to see the RADV and AMDVLK Vulkan drivers face-off on RDNA3 GPUs under Linux soon.

The AMDVLK 2022.Q4.3 release also updates against the Vulkan API 1.3.235 headers, fixes stuttering problems in Doom Eternal, fixes a Dota 2 issue with using AMDVLK when RADV is also present, and various other bug fixes.

AMDVLK 2022.Q4.3 driver sources along with pre-built Vulkan driver binaries for Ubuntu and RHEL/CentOS are available from GitHub.
