Cinnamon 2.6 Yields Lower CPU Usage
While Cinnamon 2.6 was tagged a few weeks back, this morning it's finally being officially announced by the Linux Mint team.
Cinnamon 2.6 makes use of a newer version of Clutter's OpenGL COGL API, there's around a 40% reduction in the number of CPU wakes per second, and tons of other CPU usage optimizations / responsiveness / load time improvements. There's also improvements to multiple monitor support, panel improvements, and a heck of a lot more to this GNOME3-forked environment.
More details on the Cinnamon 2.6 desktop update can be found via the release announcement at LinuxMint.com.
