Free Software Foundation Certifies Another Laptop
The Free Software Foundation has certified another laptop as "respecting your freedom" that meets the FSF standards for users' freedom, control, and privacy.
This latest laptop to achieve RYF certification is Minifree's Libreboot T400... As is the case with the other FSF RYF products, this is another refurbished laptop. As implied by the name, it's a ThinkPad T400 refurbished and loaded with Libreboot to replace the proprietary firmware and uses a FSF-endorsed GNU/Linux distribution.
The Libreboot T400 sells for €498.00 for 4GB of RAM and a 160GB HDD or €678.00 for 8GB of RAM and a 240GB SSD. There are a variety of other modifications that can place the cost as high as €798. This T400 is armed with a Intel Core 2 Duo processor and GMA 4500MHD graphics. It's the most interesting laptop yet to achieve RYF certification if that's what your after, but remains another device very dated by today's standards and comes at a premium price.
More details on the Libreboot T400 RYF certification can be found via the announcement posted to FSF.org.
