Fwupd 1.8.8 is available today as the newest update to this excellent solution for allowing system and device/peripheral firmware updates to happen under Linux and other platforms when paired with the Linux Vendor Firmware Service (LVFS).

With today's Fwupd 1.8.8 release there is support for Logitech Whiteboard cameras for handling the firmware updates there along with supporting more Goodix MoC devices as well as several QSI docks.

In addition to new hardware support, Fwupd 1.8.8 has integrated BIOS rollback protection support for Dell and Lenovo systems. AMD platform rollback protection has also been shifted to level four.

Fwupd 1.8.8 also shows signed reports from QA teams within the firmware updating client tools, adds an X-Gpu category, more ChromeOS metadata is now added to report attributes, fixing the device name reporting for Intel USB4 devices, waiting for Intel Arc Graphics GPUs to come back after handling firmware updates there, and other fixes.

Fwupd with LVFS is easily one of the best Linux hardware improvements of the past decade.
