GStreamer 1.6 Is Chugging Along, Nearing Release
Last week in France was the GStreamer 2015 Summer Hackfest. A summary of the hackfest has now been posted and GStreamer 1.5.90 has been released as a pre-release to GStreamer 1.6.
GNOME developer Luis de Bethencourt has shared his notes from this GStreamer hackfest. Some highlights include performance improvements for caps negotiations, new NVENC element support for NVIDIA encoding with H.264, a new version of the GStreamer playback stack is being worked on, the GtkGLSink is being improved, libav decoders are now utilizing direct rendering again, and other improvements made.
