Intel Releases 2015-Q1 XenGT With Broadwell Support
For those interested in XenGT as Intel's form of mediated GPU pass-through support on Linux, the newest quarterly update has surfaced.
Jike Song of Intel China announced the 2015-Q1 release of XenGT as a complete vGPU solution that works with Intel's modern Iris/HD Graphics processors. A virtual GPU is maintained for each VM. Xen remains the preferred choice with the porting to KVM still being done separately and is just considered to be of a prototype state. Porting of Intel's graphics virtualization technology to other hypervisors besides Xen and KVM is also possible though not currently pursued in an official manner.
This new Intel XenGT update brings initial Broadwell graphics support, modified kernel code based on Linux 3.18, the Xen-specific code has started to be separated out, etc.
More details on this XenGT graphics virtualization update can be found via the intel-gfx announcement.
