Intel Rolls Out Kaby Lake Desktop CPUs, Linux Results Later
Today Intel officially unveiled their 7th Generation "Kaby Lake" desktop CPU line-up at CES.
Intel announced the much-anticipated Core i7 7700K that is a quad-core part plus Hyper Threading, 4.2GHz base, 4.5GHz boost, 8MB cache, 91 Watt TDP, and HD Graphics 630. This high-end desktop/gamer CPU will cost $339 USD. Intel also announced a range of other Kabylake CPUs going down to the Core i3 7100T at $117.
While there is a range of Windows-based reviews for the Core i7 7700K on the web this morning, unfortunately, no Linux results yet... Intel's PR hasn't been too helpful when it comes to Linux interest in review samples since their whole restructuring last year; I'm hopeful to get my hands on a i7-7700K in the next few days otherwise will end up buying one for Linux testing as soon as they become available for Linux benchmarking (Update: looks like I should be getting a sample next week or so). Should also be fun to see how this Kabylake line-up compares to AMD's Ryzen that is looking to launch in the next two months or so.
