Libinput 0.8 Improves Touchpad Support, Adds Axis Sources & Scroll Event Types

Peter Hutterer at Red Hat has announced the release of libinput 0.8 and with this update comes many new features for the input handling library.

Libinput is the project originally catering to Wayland for doing all input handling tasks in one centralized library that could be shared by Wayland compositors, etc. Libinput can also be used as an X.Org input driver for handling all input tasks in what would then be a uniform manner between Wayland and X11. Fedora 22 plans to switch to libinput for input by default. It also looks like libinput may end up being used by Ubuntu's Mir.

With all eyes on libinput, Peter Hutterer released libinput 0.8.0 today as the newest feature release. Libinput 0.8 brings improved touchpad support, scroll event types, support for axis sources, scroll wheel event improvements, and various API changes.
