Last Minute Linux 4.5 Updates For Ceph, Thermal & MIPS
While Linus Torvalds tends to get angry about last-minute pull requests by subsystem maintainers at the end of a kernel cycle's merge window, he ended up honoring a few of them today for Linux 4.5
Within the Ceph updates are AIO (Asynchronous I/O) support as well as a number of fixes regarding authentication key timeout/renewal code.
The thermal update that merged today enhances the thermal core to better deal with cooling device states after a fresh boot and when resuming from a system suspend. The thermal update also adds Intel Broxton Atom support for the thermal reporting device driver.
Also noteworthy is the MIPS update. The MIPS architecture improvements for Linux 4.5 include ATH79 platform improvements, initial support for the MicroChip DT platform, Loongson 3 clean-ups, MIPS R6 fixes, SMP support for the Broadcom BCM63168, and various other changes.
If you missed it from this morning, see The Many New Features & Improvements Of The Linux 4.5 Kernel for a complete overview of this next kernel cycle.
