ADWC: A Tiling Window Manager For Wayland
There's now the first tiling manager for Wayland. Called ADWC, this open-source tiling manager can already start applications using XWayland. There's some videos showing off this Weston fork, including the Opera web-browser and KDE's KWrite running on Wayland.
Lukasz Pelszynski, one of the developers working on this tiling manager for Wayland, wrote into Phoronix on Sunday announcing ADWC. The Git repository for ADWC can be found on GitHub.
ADWC supports multiple monitors and is an experimental fork of the Weston reference compositor for Wayland. ADWC is based upon the open-source ADWM (A Dynamic Window Manager). ADWM in turn is a fork of DWM, the Dynamic Window Manager for X.
Pelszynski also shared two YouTube videos of ADWC in action, which are embedded below.
Here's a comical video of ADWC showing Opera and KDE's KWrite running (well, mostly working) with this manager and XWayland.
The second video is more serious and shows off ADWC on XWayland with various operations. You can now read the other recent Wayland news times are certainly exciting with its growing contributor list.
