IVI Shell Proposed For Wayland's Weston
A set of six patches were published on Tuesday for Wayland's Weston reference compositor to implement an IVI Shell.
IVI, short for In-Vehicle Infotainment, has been one of the early segments where there's been corporate interest in Wayland. Genesi and other IVI stakeholders have already been using Wayland/Weston and there was a proposal out of Automotive Linux Summit 2012 to have a stock "ivi-shell" for Weston.
This week's patches by a DENSO Japan engineer implements an IVI shell and also the GENIVI LM Client Library is part of the ivi-layer-management project to be compatible with Genivi Layer management users.
