NVIDIA Unveils Tegra Note - $199 Tegra 4 Tablet

NVIDIA unveiled their own complete tablet design today based around their new Tegra 4 SoC, the Tegra Note. The Tegra Note is a $199 USD tablet running Android with NVIDIA's own customization and is sporting their fine Tegra 4 SoC with 72-core GeForce graphics.

Aside from the moderate price point and NVIDIA hardware generally being well received by Linux users, I'm excited for the tablet if it's as open as their Tegra 3 "Cardhu" developer tablet that I've been toying with for months. NVIDIA's "Tegra 4 Linux" is nice and includes a sample Ubuntu root file-system, there's plenty of Linux 4 Tegra documentation with Ubuntu support and just not Android, etc.

I've been itching to get some Linux (non-Android) benchmarks of the Tegra 4 with its quad-core Cortex-A15, so if it's an open tablet, chances are there will be benchmarks of this tablet to come on Phoronix via our extensive benchmarking platform that's heavily being used on ARM.

Besides having the Tegra 4 Cortex-A15 SoC it has a 7-inch 1280 x 800 IPS LCD display, 5MB camera, 16GB storage + microSD expansion, HD Audio speakers, micro HDMI, and a reported 10 hour battery life during HD video playback.
