Mir 0.1.4 Supports GL Cache, Translucent Nested Mir
Canonical developers have started a new week by releasing Mir 0.1.4, to benefit Ubuntu Touch users and those early adopters on the desktop side looking to move early to Mir.
Noteworthy changes for Mir 0.1.4 include performance information reporting, Mirout and Mirping, an OpenGL texture cache to improve performance when multiple surfaces are visible, and support for translucent nested Mir servers. The translucent nested Mir support is discussed at length in this bug report.
The Mir 0.1.4 release fixes up snapshotting and flicker issues occurred with Unity 8 and Mir on various Google Nexus devices, adds opacity controls to the Mir demo server shell, bumps the Mir server ABI to v13, bumps the Mir client ABI to v5, and has a handful of bug-fixes.
