COREBOOT
For those using the Coreboot open-source BIOS/UEFI replacement on Lenovo laptops, the proprietary hotkeys have now been implemented.

With this Git commit that was pushed on Saturday, support for Lenovo's proprietary ACPI hot-keys have been implemented within Coreboot.

The proprietary hotkeys going back to the IBM ThinkPad days haven't been supported by Coreboot, even though ThinkPads have been very popular with Linux developers, but now the support is finally in place.
