Mesa 10.1 Will Be Added To Fedora 20
Good news for users of the open-source Linux graphics driver users... Mesa 10.1 will be added to Fedora 20 stable.
As particularly good news for users of the open-source Radeon, NVIDIA/Nouveau, and Intel Linux graphics drivers, Mesa 10.1 is going to land as a Fedora 20 stable release update. Mesa 10.0 was added last month to replace the old Mesa 9 release from last year's Fedora 20 release. With Fedora 21 not being released until late this year, Mesa has been granted further release exceptions to land major updates into the F20 repository.
Mesa 10.1 has many open-source graphics improvements from OpenGL 3.3 support in Radeon and Nouveau drivers to some new OpenGL 4 extensions in core Mesa, the RadeonSI Gallium3D driver is in better shape, there's many game optimizations, and a host of other features added as documented in the dozens of Mesa 10.1 Phoronix articles.
With this FESCo ticket, the Fedora Engineering and Steering Committee has voted in favor of allowing Mesa 10.1 as a stable F20 update.
