Ubuntu 14.10 Is Codenamed The Utopic Unicorn
Mark Shuttleworth has finally revealed the Ubuntu 14.10 codename and other details about this next Ubuntu Linux release.
Mark blogged about the Ubuntu 14.10 theme, which will continue to push Ubuntu for phones and tablets, will take greater focus on LXC containers support, and "refresh the foundations of the next generation of Linux: faster, smaller, better scaled and better maintained." Ubuntu's convergence strategy overall will be a big focus with getting Unity 8 into shape for the desktop and the Mir display server.
Mark ended with, "So bring your upstanding best to the table – or the forum – or the mailing list – and let’s make something amazing. Something unified and upright, something about which we can be universally proud. And since we’re getting that once-every-two-years chance to make fresh starts and dream unconstrained dreams about what the future should look like, we may as well go all out and give it a dreamlike name. Let’s get going on the utopic unicorn." You can read his blog post at MarkShuttleworth.com. The Ubuntu 14.10 "Utopic Unicorn" will be released in October for those not sticking to the Ubuntu 14.04 "Trusty Tahr" Long Term Support release.
