Fedora 21 Gets Proposals For Review Board 2, Web Assets

Developers have proposed adding even more features to Fedora 21, which is the next Fedora release shipping before the end of the year. There's already a lot of features under development and it's going to be a heavy release with nearly one year since Fedora 20, but even more work is on the way.

The latest features proposed for Fedora 21 that still need to be approved by FESCo (the Fedora Engineering and Steering Committee) includes:

Review Board 2.0 - Switching to the new version of the open-source Review Board software used for managing patch reviews. The new version adds more features to the web interfaces, supports review of text file attachments, expands the public API and extension framework, offers better performance, and has other enhancements.

Web Application Authentication - With new Apache modules and sssd, Fedora's authentication and identity lookup mechanisms can be consumed by these web application environments/frameworks.

SSSD GPO-Based Access Controller - Adding support for centrally managed host-based access control in an Active Directory environment using Group Policy Objects.

Web Assets - Building upon work from Fedora 20, the Fedora 21 release will continue working towards a standard directory for statc web bits (/usr/share/web-assets) and a system standard library for JavaScript code via /usr/share/javascript. There's also some related changes involved.

Serf 0.4.5 - Serf is "a decentralized solution for service discovery and orchestration that is lightweight, highly available, and fault tolerant." This is the first time Serf will be available from the main repository for Fedora Linux users.
