Mark Reiterates Mir Will Have First-Class Driver Support
Mark Shuttleworth is hosting his keynote right now for the latest Ubuntu Online Developer Summit. Mark mostly talked about Ubuntu Phone, the forthcoming BQ phone hardware, Unity 8, OpenStack, LXC / Docker, and cloud computing in general... During the question and answer period, he was just asked about Mir driver support.
A user asked about AMD and NVIDIA driver support, to which Mark responded that they're still engaged with driver vendors for both mobile and desktop, and Mir is converging around standards (with regard to DMA-BUF buffer sharing, EGL, etc), and he still expects to have first-class driver support under Mir. However, he resisted from shedding any more details beyond the basics.
