Mesa 13.0 Release Candidate 1 Arrives With Intel OpenGL 4.5 Complete
Now that release manager Emil Velikov has worked through his LLVM issue, Mesa 13.0 Release Candidate 1 is now officially available as the first development release that has core OpenGL 4.4/4.5 support in Mesa.
Mesa 13.0 is the first release to have OpenGL 4.5 support in the Intel i965 Mesa driver, for Broadwell GPUs and newer. The RadeonSI and Nouveau NVC0 drivers also have completed OpenGL 4.4/4.5 extensions too, but they don't yet officially advertise 4.4 or 4.5 but rather 4.3 as their extension string -- until they complete the OpenGL conformance test suite.
Besides the drivers hitting GL 4.4/4.5 extension coverage, Mesa 13.0 is also the first release that includes the RADV Radeon Vulkan driver developed by the community.
Plus there's a hell of a lot of other improvements, work on the smaller Gallium3D drivers like VC4 and Freedreno, and much more. See my many articles on Mesa 12.1 which is the version under development until it was bumped to Mesa 13.0-RC1 today for reaching the new GL milestone.
Mesa 13.0 should be officially released in November. The RC1 announcement was posted minutes ago on Mesa-dev.
