Software Updates For The NVIDIA Jetson TX1
Just under one week ago I wrote at length about the NVIDIA Jetson TX1 development board performance. It's a phenomenal ARM development board and quite powerful thanks to the Tegra X1 SoC with the Maxwell GPU and Cortex-A57 processor cores. My only gripes with the Jetson TX1 were around some issues with setting up the software as noted in the article, but it turns out there's already been some improvements in that front.
The headaches around needing to deploy JetPack from an Ubuntu 14.04 x86_64 host should now be fixed -- NVIDIA recommends 14.04 LTS as that's what they validate against, but it should happily run now on newer versions of Ubuntu too. The latest Jetson JetPack 2.0 download is available from developer.nvidia.com.
There's also now the CUDA Ubuntu and Linux For Tegra Debian packages available for download as part of the JTX1 L4T 23.1 release via this NVIDIA developer page.
Stay tuned for more Jetson TX1 tests soon at Phoronix. Those wanting to try out this mighty powerful ARM development board can find it in stock at Amazon.com.
