Fedora 12 Codenames: Perseidas, Orionid?
Fedora 11 will be out next week, but planning for Fedora 12 is already well underway. Some of the Fedora 12 features have already been laid out like a user-space LVM library, enhanced multi-seat support, and replacing nash/mkinitrd with Dracut. It's also time to start thinking about the codename for this next Red Hat release.
Fedora 11 was codenamed Leonidas, but Red Hat is again enlisting the help of the community in coming up with the codename for Fedora 12. Name suggestions are being taken on the Fedora Wiki. Among the proposals so far are Hannibal, Chionis, Ephialtes, Perseidas, Ahasuerus, and Orionid.
Once the list of possible names has been narrowed down, community voting will take place next month before announcing the official codename at the end of June.
