Under the control of Attachmate and as the first release since openSUSE 11.4, the first milestone release of the next version, openSUSE 12.1, is now available.

openSUSE 12.1 Milestone 1 carries over 800 package updates including the Linux 2.6.39 kernel, GCC 4.6, RPM 4.9, GNOME 3.0, KDE SC 4.6.3, and much more. There's also systemd in openSUSE 12.1, but it's not yet the default. That though is about the noteworthy changes in this release as development on openSUSE 12.1 is only beginning.
