Opera 40 Released With Built-In VPN Support, Chromecast
Besides Mozilla Firefox 49 being available, so is the latest stable update to the Opera browser powered by Chromium's Blink engine.
Opera 40 ships with a built-in, free VPN service that can be easily enabled, improved power savings support, integrated Google Chromecast support, video pop-out improvements, a newsreader with RSS support, and updates to its internal code.
Opera 40 is powered by the Chromium 53 Blink code, providing Shadow DOM v1 support, better Unicode handling, deprecating HTTP 0.9, and other low-level improvements.
Those Linux users that still use the Opera browser can learn more about the stable v40 release via the Opera blog. If you still use Opera on Linux, we'd also love to hear your opinion about why you use it over e.g. Chrome or Firefox or the other open-source alternatives -- share your thoughts by commenting on this article in our forums.
